DAI SCORES A WINNER WITH THIS YEAR'S DRAGON RAID!

It was a plesant start to the day for the run from Woods at Abergele with 5 RAT Pack members travelling south through Bala, Machynlleth and Aberystwyth then across to Mid Wales via Lampeter and onto Pembroke Dock where they joined the rest of the packs from around the country at the Cleddau Bridge Hotel. Stunning views across the Haven and the bridge provided a great backdrop for that much wanted photo opportunity!

The evening ‘kicked off’ with a very tasty buffet before Dai Garland welcomed everyone with his usual hospitality. The entertainment was a quiz, after which it was off to the bar to catch up with old acquaintances on events past, present and future. It is amazing how much knowledge is around on RAT events when everyone chats at the bar. There's information on what’s happening in the different pack areas, Triumph news and general subjects of interest, it's a great time to meet up with friends old and new.

Saturday morning saw a very wet start to the day for the ride around the area, but as the morning went on the weather improved and everyone finally got away on the run.

The route was a bit of a challenge in places but a couple of very enjoyable hours later all riders were back at the hotel refreshed by the ride, but with very muddy bikes! Although the great scenery along the way and fantastic roads to ride along, i think everyone would agree it was more than worth it!

Saturday night saw an excellent meal followed by a great welsh choir and a fantastic blues band. What an impressive end to a truly remarkable day!

With some great bikes on display, including a sneak preview of the new Thunderbird which was available for you to stretch your legs over, it was certainly a weekend packed with something for everyone.

Sunday saw the sun arrive which made the journey back home very pleasant, with stunning views over the Pressely Hills and along the coast for the pack from Woods and no doubt a great ride home for all the RAT pack participants.

Everyone is looking forward already to next years ‘DRAGON RAID’ so get planning Bevans for yet another amazing weekend. Roll on 2010!
See you there.
