BY-PASS COOLANT HOSE & REAR BRAKE HOSE ROUTING RECALL (JUNE 2005)

Triumph has identified a small possibility of a coolant leak from a limited number of recent production 3-cylinder engines as fitted to the 1050 Speed Triple, 1050 Sprint ST & ABS and Daytona 955i. The recall affects only the early 1050 production build and a very small number of 955 engines.  Affected Vin ranges are included below.

As a result it is theoretically possible for the engine to overheat should the coolant hose split.

In addition, a number of 1050 Sprint ST require a small modification to the routing of the rear brake hose to ensure it does not foul the drive chain. This work will be carried out at the same time as the coolant hose replacement. Sprint ST ABS are not affected.

Rider safety is of paramount importance to Triumph so despite the extremely low-risk of failure, the company has decided to recall all affected machines as a precautionary measure.

Owners of motorcycles are being notified directly by mail, however anyone who wishes to confirm whether their machine is affected by the action is asked to contact their local dealer.

Although the affected motorcycles are safe to ride in the meantime, owners are asked to make early arrangements to have the hose replaced (and in the case of some Sprint ST owners, have the rear brake hose routing checked and secured).
