Industrial Placements - The career of your dreams starts here!

INDUSTRIAL PLACEMENT DESIGN DEPARTMENT – ASSEMBLY

The role of the placement student in the Assembly Department comprises many tasks that ensure you are kept busy throughout the week and interested throughout the year. This role ideally suits a student from a Manufacturing or Production Engineering degree.

The numerous responsibilities mean the work is always varied and you get a broad range of experiences from which to build upon in the future.  The areas that you work in and the projects that you undertake will allow you to see how important the practicality of engineering is. Turning a collection of parts into a finished motorcycle, quickly and efficiently, highlights the worth of good design in real world situations.

As part of a team of Production Engineers you will be responsible for working well within a team to achieve goals, as well as individual tasks.  Your role will involve implementing new assembly tooling when new models are released which can throw up many challenges. You will also have responsibility for maintaining the 1500+ tools on the assembly line, ensuring that they are correctly calibrated, repaired and replaced when necessary to continue producing safe and reliable bikes.

During production of a motorcycle the development of the bike continues and another major area of your position in assembly is the introduction of new developments and components. This involves test fitting new components prior to production implementation and putting everything in place for a smooth transition to the new components. This will also involve attending design change meetings with other departments within the factory and relaying information to other production engineers.

In addition to these main responsibilities are a number of ongoing projects including the introduction of a new wireless tool calibration system, building a comprehensive tool archive system and an efficient tool database.
The assembly department will provide you with a variety of challenges that will create a broad and sound foundation of engineering knowledge upon which to build a successful career.

Our objective is to recruit the top students for industrial placements with an ultimate aim to offer them full time employment after graduation. This allows Triumph to employ the very best up and coming engineers to join our dedicated and enthusiastic teams.
