DIRECT VALVE ACTUATION

In a Triumph engine the camshafts are situated in the cylinder head directly over the valves.  The valves are acting on buckets with the adjustment shim located either on top or underneath the buckets (depending on model).  The buckets are mounted over the valve spring and retainer.

Smaller shims located underneath the bucket  reduce valve train mass enabling higher engine speeds and increased performance.
